Lafayette Wattles is a Young Adult Novelist, Poet, Photographer, Nature-Lover, Wonder-Seeker, Incurably-Curious Hoops-Junkie, Wannabe Ninja, Misfit.
As a boy, he was all go-go-go, never slow down, never stop moving.
You could say Lafayette was a little hyper. So hyper in fact that he didn’t read his first book (on his own) until he was twenty-six. He COULD read, he just hard a hard time sitting still long enough to do it.
Of course, once he started reading he couldn’t stop.
Needless to say, Lafayette wasn’t one of those people who was a born writer. Like most things in his life, he started writing kind of late.
Ever since he was a teen, Lafayette’s had a soft spot for misfits, for people who just don’t seem to fit in. Maybe it’s because he sees things in them that other people sometimes overlook and he especially enjoys getting those other people to notice, to slow down long enough to give someone who’s not like them a chance.
To him, that’s what writing’s all about. Having an opportunity to show another side of something, or someone. To give the outcast a voice.
That’s what he’s doing here, too. Not giving misfits a voice, as much as bringing together a collection of vibrant, colorful, creative voices in the hopes of inspiring YOU.
To do what? Well, how about just be yourself!
He’s hoping you won’t wait as long as he did to slow down and listen to that voice deep down inside you, the one singing a “tune without words.” He’s hoping you’ll be inspired to create. To find and then add your voice into the mix.
